Implant-Supported Dentures VS Traditional Solutions
Implant-supported dentures are a type of denture that is anchored to dental implants, which are surgically placed into the jawbone and allow our patients to choose from a fixed or removable option. Unlike traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures provide superior stability and support, preventing them from slipping or shifting during eating, speaking, or laughing. They also offer a more natural appearance and feel, as they are customized to fit your specific mouth and are supported by implants that integrate with your jawbone. Additionally, implants for dentures help preserve the jawbone by stimulating natural bone growth, preventing the bone loss that can occur with traditional dentures. While traditional dentures are typically the more cost-effective option upfront and can be placed within weeks of your initial appointment, they only last up to five years and limit your food choices. Implants for dentures offer a long-lasting and comfortable solution that is less costly in the long run, can last a lifetime with proper maintenance, and allow you to enjoy the foods you love without worry!

Our Implant Supported Denture Procedure
Before we begin crafting your personalized smile, we’ll complete an in-depth consultation with either Dr’s O’Brien and Cami. During this appointment, we’ll thoroughly discuss your unique needs and limitations to determine the best solution for you. While many patients are suitable for overdenture implants, we’ll evaluate your case to ensure that you qualify for this treatment or any alternative options that may be necessary. To aid in surgical planning and the creation of your new denture, we’ll take x-rays and impressions of your mouth. Depending on your case, your denture will be secured to the implants with a ball or bar attachment and can be either removable for cleaning or permanently attached. After surgery, you’ll need at least three months to heal and for the overdenture implants to fuse with your jawbone. During this time, we’ll provide you with a temporary denture until your final denture is ready. In some cases, we may be able to modify your existing denture to fit your new implants. Either way, we won’t let you go without a smile you’re proud of!
Affording Your New Implant-Supported Dentures
While the upfront cost of implant-supported dentures may be higher compared to traditional options, they can ultimately save you both time and money. With traditional dentures, you’ll need frequent relines and adjustments to ensure a secure fit, which can quickly add up in cost and time spent returning for multiple appointments. In contrast, implants for dentures typically last much longer and offer improved diet and overall health benefits, potentially reducing the risk of systemic issues down the line. At Sitwell Dental in Saratoga Springs, NY we work with various insurance providers and third-party financing options to make this long-term investment in your health as affordable as possible. The total cost will depend on factors such as your insurance coverage and the number of implants required, but we’ll work closely with you to explore all available options and make this truly life-changing care accessible to you.
